Our association is honored to be the recipient of the MTNA's 2002 "Local Association of the Year" award.
 
Our purpose is to:
• Promote and participate in the educational growth and development of music.
• Practice and promote high ethical standards in professional and business dealings.
• Provide opportunities for more student participation in music.
 
 
Members receive
• Professional certification through Music Teachers National Association
• Professional membership in local, state and national associations
• Mentoring is available to new members
• Programs on business procedures, studio policies, tax information, pedagogy methods, instrument maintenance, workshops, masterclasses, teaching experiences and problems
• State and National profession magazines
• Local handbook
• Membership in Abilene Teachers Federal Credit Union
 
 
Student Events & Activities
• State-wide testing programs in theory and music history
• State convention ensemble program performance (10 pianos) presented first in Abilene in the Abilene Civic Center Auditorium
• Competition at local, state, and national levels
• Original composition competition at local and state levels
• Local festivals: ensemble, sonatina, Baroque
• Cooperation with National Federation of Music Clubs Junior Festival
• Cooperation with "Artwalk", a community evening out in downtown Abilene
 
 
The AMTA is an organization of independent music teachers associated with the Texas Music Teachers Association and the Music Teachers National Association.
